(Washington—Sept. 21, 2015) China Aid’s vice president Kody Kness will speak at events in Washington, D.C. this week at Freedom Week, a special event hosted by the Newseum Institute highlighting the challenges faced by human rights activists and reporters in oppressive governments. Special focus is being given to the current situation in China in recognition of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit to America.

Kness was joined Monday morning, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m., by International Gene Policinski, the chief operating officer of the Newseum Institute and First Amendment Center to open the weeklong event with a gallery talk over threats to journalists.

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, Kness will speak at the “Fighting for Free Expression Around the World” presentation at 11 a.m. with Washington Post’s Jim Hoagland for Reporters without Borders and the president of Initiatives for China Jianli Yang.

Additionally, Kness will speak at China Aid’s press conference on Wednesday, “Worsening Religious Freedom Abuse in China under the Xi Administration” later in the afternoon.
