■ Two female Christian camp leaders were arrested on the 4th of August in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

The communist Party in China accused the leaders of trying to brainwash children.

Report from the persecution watchdog explained, “Both women were accused of indoctrinating minors with superstitious beliefs. Chinese law forbids religious teaching to anyone under the age of 18, believing matters of faith to be dangerous brainwashing from which children must be protected.”

“Christian parents and church leaders can face disciplinary action from officials for involving their children in any Christian activity.”

China Aid reports that following their arrest, Zhou Yanhua and Gao Ming, both members of Yining County Church, were detained for 10 and 15 days respectively. The women were arrested by police officers just as they started the journey to the summer camp.

Government authorities have told the parents on numerous occasions ,that the students could be barred from higher grade levels, taking college entrance exams or be admitted into the army.

Buried Alive

“This case is a serious violation of the rights to life, religious freedom and rule of law. The Chinese authorities should immediately hold those murderers accountable and take concrete measures to protect measures to protect the religious freedom of this house churches members,” China Aid President Bob Fu said at the time of the incident.

In April, a Christian house church leader and his wife were buried alive while protesting the government-ordered demolition of their church.

The couple were pushed into a pit wth the bulldozer covering their bodies with soil. The husband managed to dig himself out of the pit, but unfortunately the wife suffocated before she could be rescued.

Hundreds of activists, church members and priests have been arrested when protesting against the governments plan to stop the Good News from being told.
