(Midland, Texas—July 11, 2018) ChinaAid conducted a retreat in Texas for the families of Chinese persecution victims on June 28-July 5, allowing them to connect with people who have been through situations similar to theirs.

Named R.i.S.E., which represents ChinaAid’s desire that these families will rise up in the face of their past persecutions and be victorious over any lasting negative impact. The letters stand for “Renew, Inspire, Selfless, and Empower.” The lower case “i” lower case in order to indicates that life isn’t “all about me,” but rather that God is greater than individual fears and struggles and it is important to put others first.

The retreat took place on Stasney’s Cook Ranch in Albany, Texas. The nearly 60 attendees saw a Texas historical play, visited a zoo, completed art projects, rode horses, swam, kayaked, and heard Christian teachings.

When they returned from the camp, many said they felt refreshed.

ChinaAid held the RiSE retreat in order to encourage the families of those who have experienced injustice at the hands of their government and to promote religious freedom, human rights, and rule of law.
