(Nanchang, Jiangxi—Nov. 24, 2018) As churches across China experience increased persecution, a church in China’s eastern Jiangxi province recently received a government notice requiring them to remove a cross from their roof.
An attendee of Dongxinxiang Church in Nanchang, Jiangxi, said, “Deng Xiaopeng, an official from the county government, just notified us that the cross on the roof should be taken down. Please pray for us.”
The Christian also said the government initially asked them to display the national flag, a tactic the Chinese government often uses as part of a nationwide attempt to make Christians demonstrate allegiance to the Communist Party. Nanchang Christians have said that local government officials have tightened their control on house churches, requiring them to display the flag, and some churches have already been shut down.
