(Tianjin—March 13, 2019) The lawyer of an imprisoned human rights attorney traveled to Tianjin in order to submit documents for his client on Tuesday, only to be told the case could not be located.

Lin, who serves as the attorney of incarcerated human rights lawyer Wang Quanzhang and was accompanied by Wang’s wife, Li Wenzu, was told his client’s case could not be found. He believes it is possible that the court staffer lied, because he failed to follow normal protocol.

Wang was originally taken into police custody in 2015, when China began seizing lawyers who advocated on behalf of persecuted people, and wasn’t tried until earlier this year. He was later sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.

ChinaAid exposes abuses in order to stand in solidarity with the persecuted and promote religious freedom, human rights, and rule of law. If you wish to partner with us in helping those persecuted by the Chinese government for their beliefs, please click here to make a charitable donation.
