Organizations to hold rallies in 15 U.S. cities in support of religious freedom

(Washington, D.C.—July 9, 2019) A variety of organizations will hold a rally in 15 different cities across the United States on Wednesday to protest religious freedom abuses occurring worldwide, according to a letter from Save the Persecuted Christians President and CEO Frank Gaffney.

The rallies, known as the Religious Freedom Rallies and hosted by Nations in Action, Save the Persecuted Christians, and other organizations, will be held outside the offices of the lobbying firm Squire Patton Boggs (SPB) in 15 locations. These cities include: Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, Atlanta, Georgia, Denver, Colorado, Dallas and Houston, Texas, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California, Miami and West Palm Beach, Florida, Phoenix, Arizona, New York, New York, Tysons, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Each gathering will begin at 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 10.

The letter also details that SPB’s clientele includes the governments of Saudi Arabia, China, Cameroon, the Palestinian Authority, and Qatar, all of whom have verifiable allegations of either allowing the persecution of their religious citizens or actively participating in it. SPB has lobbied their interests with U.S. lawmakers in an attempt to persuade them to enact policies in favor of these regimes.

In May, 50 signatories, including ChinaAid, appealed to SPB’s Chairman and Global CEO, Mark Ruehlmann, to remove religious freedom abusers from its clientele. The full appeal can be read here.

To attend the rallies at any of the 15 cities listed above, please register at religionsfreedomrally.org. The rally’s organizers are also encouraging participants to “spread the word about this initiative and increase its impact through your social media networks with the hashtag #Free2Pray,” according to a letter from Save the Persecuted Christians President and CEO Frank Gaffney.
