(Pu’er, Yunnan—July 24, 2019) The Pu’er Intermediate People’s Court in Yunnan province, on July 25th Beijing time, has sustained the seven sentence of Pastor John Cao, according to information recently given to ChinaAid.

This decision comes shortly after it was learned that appeal process would be carried out as a “trial session on paper only.”

The court today surrounded by a heavy police presence. Only Cao’s 83 year old mother and his sister along with their lawyer were allowed to hear the verdict.

Update: August 12, 2019 at 3:00 PM 
According to new information, John Cao is being transferred to a prison in Kunming. The story will be updated as more information becomes available.
