(Jilin, China—Oct. 7, 2019) A woman who was imprisoned in Jilin, China, was denied surgery for her brain tumor.

Wang Jing was arrested for posting photos online. During her time in prison, she suffered from a brain tumor. Her lawyer filed for medical parole, but authorities rejected the request.

Additionally, officials tortured her during her time behind bars.

Since her release, Wang has sought out medical treatment. It is unclear whether the tumor is cancerous. However, she is experiencing facial paralysis and other health concerns.

She hopes to travel to Japan for surgery.
