In her testimony, Ms. Gulzira recounts that Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Yining County secretary claimed the CCP would give her 250,000 yuan [38,830 USD] if she would remain silent and never speak the things she saw and witnessed in China's concentration camps, Ms. Gulzira said:
I rejected the money because what I long for is freedom. When I returned to Kazakhstan, I wanted to let others know what happened because I am not the only one who has been detained in the concentration camp. Many people like me have been [and still are] suffering. We all need money, but if I take the money [and remain silent], I will lose freedom.
In China's reeducation camps, CCP guards marked Ms. Gulzira, and her time with extreme surveillance, emotional abuse, and physical beatings.

For the enemy has persecuted my soul;
He has crushed my life to the ground;
He has made me dwell in darkness,
Like those who have long been dead.
