(Tyler, TX) Grace Community Church observed the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church in their Sunday services. Bob Fu, president and founder of ChinaAid, spoke about Christian persecution in China, sharing some experiences from his time as an underground pastor.

The International Day of Prayer (IDOP) falls on the first Sunday of November every year. Churches, like Grace Community, utilize these times to inform their congregations about persecution all over the world and exhort them to pray earnestly for fellow believers.

Bob Fu instructed the congregation on the three wars waged by the Chinese government: the war on the cross, where three thousand crosses were burned last year; the war on the Christian Church, as ChinaAid found that 100% of all house churches faced some form of harassment in 2020; and the war against the children, where Chinese officials prohibited anyone under 18 from attending church. This persecution continues to rise as members of Early Rain Covenant Church face constant harassment from communist party authorities.

Fu also shared about his personal experience in prison, which he calls “Prison Theology.” Many of his predecessors warned him that “Prison Theology” was not a selective course if he wanted to faithfully serve God in China. Bob eventually served time in prison and led his own prison choir. By the end of his sentence, Bob’s fellow inmates considered him their spiritual counselor.
