John Cao was sentenced to seven years on a baseless charge of “illegally crossing the national border” in March 2018. Prior to his arrest, John built bible schools for minority children in Myanmar. It is believed this was the true cause of his arrest.
ChinaAid released a collection of Pastor John Cao’s poetry last year: Living Lyrics: Poems from Prison. All of these poems were written while Cao was incarcerated.

(Hebrews 13:3) Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
Missing My Son
My son turns sixty-three today
He has been imprisoned for five years for the sake of God
Enjoying God’s grace daily
He spends his time writing poems and making prayers
It’s God’s will to refine him like gold
His poems are published on Amazon
His life is well fulfilled
He glorifies God as a poet
