Hualin Kindergarten: 3 Christians sentenced to 2 years; other defendant sentenced to 1 year, 9 months

(Luizhou, Guangxi–April 24, 2015) Today, the Luinan District Court in Luizhou, in China’s southern Guangxi region, sentenced the defendants in the Hualin Kindergaten case, who were accused of engaging in “illegal business operations.”

Cheng Jie, the kindergarten’s director, Huang Quirui, a elder of the Guangzhou-based Liangren Church that founded the Guangxi kindergarten, and Li Jiato, a Liangren Church member, were sentenced to two years in prison and a 5,000 Yuan (U.S. $807) fine.

Fang Bin, a printer contracted to produce the so-called “illegal” character-improvement textbooks for Hualin Kindergarten, was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison with a fine of 4,000 Yuan (U.S. $646).
